KingsFord Smith Drive Project $14 million upgrade
Kings ford Smith Drive is a major road linking Brisbane CBD to the Brisbane Airport, Port of Brisbane, North shore Hamilton and the Australia Trade Coast area. This $14 million upgrade project forms part of Council's Road Action Program, which will tackle congestion, increases safety and improve road access to Brisbane’s 21 most congested roads. There are 3 stages to the 1.2 kilo metre stretch of road that has seen 86 accidents in the past 5 years. Completion of road marking to stage 1 by All State Line Marking is expected to be completed in mid 2011. The first stage of the upgrade – Harvey Street to Theodore Street will provide enhanced traffic infrastructure to service the area’s growing needs. It will improve traffic flow by widening the road from 4 lanes to 6 lanes, improve road user safety and pedestrian and cyclist access, as well as extend right turn queuing lanes therefore increasing safety and capacity at intersections. The project will complement works associated with the Gateway upgrade project, including the new on and off-ramps to Kings ford Smith Drive. Line Marking Australia
